“As a native of Skye, the island influences much of my work. I take inspiration from the land, sea and marine life of the West Coast. Other sources of inspiration are the many myths and legends which have grown out of the history of the island. Through my work, I aim to convey the sense of atmosphere and mystery which belong to the landscape and the sea that surrounds it.”

BORN IN NORTHWEST SKYE,THE MINCH, A DEEP STRETCH OF POWERFUL CURRENTS AND EDDIES, SEPARATING THE INNER HEBRIDES AND MAINLAND FROM THE OUTER HEBRIDES, IS A DYNAMIC PRESENCE IN MARION'S WORK. HER SERIES 'THE BLUE MEN OF THE MINCH', EVOKES THE MYSTERY AND TREACHERY OF THIS DEEP OCEAN TRENCH. FROM NEIST POINT, KNOWN FOR ITS SIMILARITY TO THE GIANT'S CAUSEWAY ROCK FORMATIONS THERE ARE MAGNIFICENT VIEWS OF MOONEN BAY AND WATERSTEIN HEAD AND THE FORTUNATE VISITOR MAY CATCH A GLIMPSE OF WHALES NAVIGATING THE MINCH.
